Catherine Parrotta joined Boston 25 News as a general assignment reporter in March 2012. After six years as a morning reporter at Boston 25 News, Catherine currently works as the traffic reporter in addition to filling in on the anchor desk. She came to Boston 25 from WGME-TV in Portland, Maine where she served as a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter. During her five years at WGME, Catherine covered an incredible range of stories, from the ongoing investigation of missing toddler Ayla Reynolds to security threats along the U.S. northern border. She also covered the candidates running in the 2008 presidential race as they campaigned in New Hampshire. During her time at Boston 25 News, Catherine reported on the Marathon bombings and the resulting trial for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. She also covered the investigations surrounding Aaron Hernandez, his arrest, and later, his prison suicide. Her return to Boston has sent her to many a snow-covered beach in the dark hours of the morning for blizzard and nor'easter coverage. Catherine's work has been recognized over the past decade by the Associated Press, and the New England Emmy Awards. Catherine is a Saugus native and graduated summa cum laude from the honors program at Emerson College with a degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in history. She is thrilled to be part of the Boston 25 News team, reporting stories in the cities and towns where she grew up. Catherine currently lives on the North Shore with her husband and son. In her spare time, she enjoys singing and spending time with her family.
