RAIN MOVING IN
Heavy downpours across interior locations today shift east through the morning, turning more widespread as the day progresses for the Boston Metro Area. A cold front swinging in from the northwest will provide an extra spark for thunderstorms in the afternoon, some of which may contain strong winds and frequent lightning.
Between the periodic downpours, we will likely see 1-2″+ of rainfall for Boston points west. The slow moving cold front also indicates the potential for training rainfall, meaning areas of poor drainage and flash flooding will be possible too where amounts exceed 1″. Further inland and closer to central Massachusetts I think we could see 2-3″ of rain. Most of the rain will be done by around 7 or 8 PM later tonight.
