DUBLIN, N.H. — The New Hampshire teenager who survived a horrific head-on crash was discharged from the hospital nearly a month later.
Sam Lachance was driving back to Keene State College to begin his second semester when investigators say the 18-year-old's Jeep crossed over the center line and collided with a tractor-trailer on Route 101 in Dublin.

Dashcam video captured the accident which was so powerful it ripped open the fuel tank of the truck, sparking an intense fire.

Lachance owes his initial survival to the occupants of the vehicle with the dashcam who pulled him from the burning car. The driver of the truck had only minor injuries. Lachance had to be flown to Mass. General Hospital.
His mother Jessica recalls waiting hours to learn whether he was alive and Wednesday, in a final Facebook post from Boston, she remembered the days right after the crash:
"Over the next few painful. emotional days, we watched MGH put our son back together. Things we were to about his injuries and path to recovery seemed overwhelming and dire. However, through pure strength, skill, prayers, and intervention that I can't even wrap my head around, Sam began unbelievable healing that stunned everyone."
About three weeks ago, Sam was transferred to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and was discharged Wednesday.
"Here we are, 4 weeks later, thanks to Sam's grit, Spaulding's skill and everyone's incredible support, we are coming home. Coming Home."
Jessica's post goes on to say that Sam is expected to make a complete recovery with a return to work, college, and life.
She praised all of the family, friends, and strangers who lifted them up during this tough period. Keene State College's music department is also set to lift the family up with a lunchtime fundraising concert for Sam at Saint Bernard's Church on Main Street Friday, Feb. 22.
