Two seriously injured in two-car crash in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Mass. — Two people were seriously hurt in a two-car crash in Lawrence on Sunday, according to Massachusetts State Police.

State police and Lawrence fire crews responded to a two-car crash on Interstate 495 South around 9:30 a.m.

The highway was shut down so a medical helicopter could transport one of the injured women to a Boston hospital for her life-threatening injuries.

A woman inside the second vehicle was also transported to a local hospital for serious injuries, according to state police.

All traffic was diverted off of 495 South at Exit 100 before lanes were able to be fully reopened.

The crash is still under investigation by state police.
