Start of trial for Patriots star Jabrill Peppers delayed after water main break at courthouse

QUINCY, Mass. — Editorial Note: Boston 25 learned at 8 a.m. that the start of Jabrill Peppers’ domestic violence trial has been delayed due to a water main break at the courthouse. The trial will now start on Thursday, January 23.

Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers is scheduled to go on trial Wednesday for allegedly shoving his girlfriend’s head into a wall and repeatedly choking her.

According to police Peppers, 29 was arrested after officers responded to a disturbance at a home. The caller indicated that there was an altercation between two people, police say.

The victim declined to go to a hospital and was treated on the scene.

A police report by Braintree police alleges that Peppers’ girlfriend called police around 4:15 a.m. Saturday morning saying that her boyfriend hit, choked her, took off her clothes, and put her outside.

The caller said she was choked at least six times, had her head smashed against the wall, and was pushed down the stairs.

Peppers answered the door shirtless, nodding his head and telling police, “I know what is going on,” according to court documents. He was arrested without incident. While there, police also discovered some cocaine in a clear plastic bag.

Peppers was put on the NFL exempt list shortly after the incident. He missed seven games before being able to return to play toward the end of the season.

Peppers played two more games with the Pats, but injuries ended his season early. He is signed with the Patriots through 2027, but that could always change depending on the outcome of this case.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
