Police investigating call for shots fired in Worcester

WORCESTER, Mass. — Police are investigating a report of shots fired on Friday morning.

A viewer provided a picture from Strathmore Road in which Worcester and Massachusetts State Police can be seen on scene.

Several bits of clothing and other debris could also be seen lying in the roadway.

Police did not provide many details, leaving neighbors to piece together what happened.

One man who spoke with Boston 25 News said he heard an argument before hearing shots ring out.

“Next thing I heard what appeared to be 5 shots go off, I could immediately tell that it was gunshots and not fireworks or anything like that,” said Gary G.

Gary says he’s lived in the neighborhood for nearly 20 years and immediately checked with a neighbor to try and figure out what happened.

“Asked him what he observed, what he was aware of. He told me that he heard arguing and then he heard the guns hots fire. He said he immediately came out his door and witnessed a police officer with a hand gun standing over a victim.”

Ring camera footage shared with Boston 25 News by neighbors Dylan Schofield shows officers walking up and down the road shortly after arriving at the scene.

Police have not said what led up to the shooting or announced any arrests.
