BROCKTON, Mass. — Two men were indicted on Friday for their alleged roles in the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old Brockton man in July 2024.

Govanni Carapinha, 24, and Marcus Miranda, 21 were both indicted by a grand jury in Plymouth County Superior Court on one count each of murder, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz.

On July 24, shortly before midnight, Brockton Police responded to a shooting at a residence on Vesey Street and found 22-year-old Romualdy Pierre-Charles deceased with several gunshot wounds.

Surveillance video in the area allegedly showed three suspects, two of whom were identified as Carapinha and Miranda, wearing black clothing approach the home and chase the victim into the backyard.

During the chase, investigators say Carapinha was shot in the leg. Miranda and an unidentified man wearing black clothing helped Carapinha into a gray Infiniti and drove him to Boston Medical Center, where he was treated and arrested following his released.

Miranda was arrested days later on July 29 at Logan Airport after allegedly trying to flee the country.

The DA’s office has not provided any additional information regarding the third suspect or the search for him.

Both Carapinha and Miranda are being held without bail and will be arraigned in Superior Court at a later date.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
