Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers, accuser take stand on day one of domestic abuse trial

QUINCY, Mass. — Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers and his accuser both took the stand on day one of his domestic abuse trial in Quincy District Court.

Peppers admitted to having cocaine on the night of his 29th birthday, clearing the charge through an agreement with prosecutors.

Prosecutors said Peppers choked a woman multiple times and pushed her against the wall at his Braintree apartment back in October.

According to prosecutors, Peppers was jealous about a phone call she received from another man.

He denied the abuse claims.

Peppers also denied seriously dating the woman, instead calling it a “casual sexual relationship”.

“He grabbed me by the neck and threw me against the wall,” the woman testified.

She claims Peppers threw her down the stairs and didn’t stop there.

“I had a metal purse that he smashed and my cell phone,” she said.

The defense played cellphone videos recorded by Peppers in the moments after the alleged domestic violence.

According to the defense, she refused to leave that night after he asked her 20 times to do so and claims she had no significant injuries.

Peppers remains on the Patriots roster but now faces an uncertain future.

He will remain on probation because of the drug charge.

He will also need to remain drug-free with screenings by the NFL substance abuse program.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
