‘Operation Firewall’: Mass. State Police identify 56 people arrested in 3-day child porn sting

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — More than 50 people were arrested on child pornography charges during a three-day sting across dozens of Massachusetts communities last week, law enforcement officials announced Monday.

Massachusetts State Police leaders and multiple district attorneys detailed the arrests from “Operation Firewall” during a news conference at state police headquarters in Framingham.

Those arrested in connection with Operation Firewall had allegedly engaged in the possession, production, and sharing of child sexual abuse material, as well as child enticement, according to Massachusetts State Police Col. Geoffrey Noble.

In total, 56 people were arrested, with 25 of them facing possession of child pornography charges, 19 facing enticement of a child charges, seven facing failure to register as a sex offender charges, and five facing rape or assault and battery of a child charges.

“The operation reflects the determination of troopers, professional members of the state police, law enforcement partners, and prosecutors across the Commonwealth to pursue those who victimize children,” Noble said at the news conference.

Noble and Tucker said their agency worked with the Healey-Driscoll administration to secure “multiple complex warrants,” which resulted in the seizure of hundreds of electronic devices.

Tucker warned parents that “there is no profile when it comes to child exploitation.”

“Operation Firewall brought us to nearly 40 communities across every part of the Commonwealth. We arrested successful businesspeople, homeowners, spouses, and parents of children,” Tucker explained. “55 of the suspects are men, and one is a woman. The suspects arrested range in ages from 18 to 75. These suspects could be your neighbors.”

They also urged parents and caregivers to keep tabs on what is on the devices used by their children and to monitor online behaviors for suspicious activity.

“We all need to work together to mitigate this growing problem,” Noble stressed. “As a father of three myself, I understand how difficult those conversations can be, but they’re essential. When parents, teachers, coaches, mentors, and law enforcement work together, we create the firewall that keeps our children safe.”

Tucker said he expects additional child porn arrests in the coming days.
