A woman is dead and a person is in custody following a call for a “disturbance” in a section of Boston’s Allston neighborhood, Boston Police Say.
Boston police responded to a residence on Glenville Ave., after receiving a 911 call shortly before 8 p.m., Monday.
When officers arrived on scene, they located the body of a woman in an apartment, according to Boston Deputy Superintendent Paul McLaughlin. Also in the apartment was an individual who fled through a window as police arrived, McLaughlin continued.
That individual led police on a chase through several yards and streets in the area. Police deployed TASERs several times in the pursuit, according to officials.
Police were able to take the individual into custody as they attempted to steal a vehicle on Quint Ave., police say. Police took the person back to Boston Police headquarters where officers are working to identify the individual.
Police say they have recovered a weapon, but did not say what the weapon was during a news conference, Monday night. Earlier in the evening, Boston police told Boston 25 News that a preliminary report said that a suspect may have been armed with a machete. When asked if the weapon that was recovered was a knife, police would only classify it as “an object.”
The identity of the victim in this case is being withheld until family can be notified.
The incident remains under investigation by police.
