Man accused of shooting, seriously injuring ex-girlfriend in brazen Milton shooting

Investigation underway after Milton woman found with gunshot wounds in car

MILTON, Mass. — The person who allegedly shot a woman in Milton, leaving her with serious injuries last week was arrested Friday before being arraigned on outstanding warrants this week.

Joell Williams, 35, was arrested Friday on outstanding warrants after investigators learned he was at a home in Mattapan, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office. Williams did not leave the home for several hours but eventually turned himself over to police without incident.

Williams is accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend, a 43-year-old woman from Milton in the area of Belvoir Road around 7:45 a.m. on January 29. The shooting seriously injured the woman.

Willaims appeared in Boston Municipal Court in Dorchester on Monday for the outstanding warrants. Police also found a .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun with an obliterated serial number and two magazines and a 9 mm pistol with a high-capacity magazine, according to the Norfolk DA’s office.

Williams was held without bail in Dedham District Court Tuesday after being arraigned Tuesday on an additional outstanding warrant charging him with multiple assault and firearms charges related to an assault on the woman in Norwood in 2023.

He pleaded not guilty. Williams was also wanted on the warrants since an assault in Norwood.

Williams is scheduled to reappear in court on February 26.
