HINGHAM, Mass. — 12-year-old Sebastian English’s planned visit to his local fire station took a turn for the best!
On Saturday, both the Hingham Fire and Police Departments collaborated to announce that Sebastian’s wish to go on a Disney Cruise would soon come true, with the help of Make-A-Wish.
Sebastian, who loves all things Disney, knew that the cruise was the right fit for him after he attended a Disney on Ice show. Sebastian also loves trucks, puzzles, and sports, especially playing adaptive basketball.
Alongside the surprise, Sebastian and his family got a tour of the firehouse, a demonstration with the comfort dogs, and a ride on a firetruck, followed by pizza and cake.
Dozens of students from Hingham High School and Sebastian’s classmates showed up to support him.
“It’s really emotional that so many people came out to support Sebastien. He’s such a bright spot in so many people’s lives,” said Sebastien’s mother, Nathalie English.
The celebration was also another way for the Hingham community to embrace Sebastian and his family as they recently moved to Himgham from Houston, Texas.
“It was really heartfelt and overwhelming,” said Sebastien’s father, Clayton English, as he described the feeling of walking through the cheering welcome line with Sebastien. “It really makes you feel like there are a lot of people out there in the community who care.” “And who want to share in Sebastien’s joy,” added Nathalie.
As Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island finalize plans for Sebastien’s cruise, the charity is working to grant the wishes of over 650 local children who are currently eligible for and awaiting a wish.
