BOSTON — We’re on a SEVERE WEATHER ALERT from the Boston 25 Weather Team due to a flash flood warning in our area.
This alert was first issued for Worcester, Norfolk, Suffolk, Middlesex, Bristol, and Plymouth counties until 9 a.m. It was later extended to 11:15 a.m. in Norfolk, Suffolk, and Plymouth counties.
Some locations that are likely to experience flash flooding through late morning include Boston, Quincy, Weymouth, Braintree, Randolph, Milton, Stoughton, Dedham, Hingham, Canton, Scituate, Winthrop, Holbrook, Hull, Cohasset, and Avon, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS warned of life-threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses.
“Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles,” the NWS added. “Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.”
Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches per 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.
Flash flooding is already occurring, and several roads are closed in the warning area, including I-93 near Furnace.
A flood watch is also in effect for Worcester, Middlesex, Essex, Norfolk, Bristol, and Plymouth counties until 4 p.m.
