MAYNARD, Mass. — Maynard Fire Department responded to a structure fire Friday afternoon, using their newly delivered fire engine to take out the flames.
Crews were dispatched around 4:33 p.m. to a commercial property.
Upon arrival, firefighters noticed that the flames had spread to the attic, causing a second-alarm response to be issued.
Coming to the call was the town’s brand-new fire engine, which had just entered service on Thursday, January 9.
“It’s important for us to have state-of-the-art equipment to respond to calls around town,” Chief Angela Lawless said. “We want to thank the Town of Maynard and residents for their continued support of our department.”
Fire crews were able to stop the spread of the fire, however, part of the property’s roof collapsed.
No injuries were reported.
