Officer dragged, another hospitalized after driver refuses to stop and hits several cars, police say

BOSTON — The driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that hospitalized a person in Boston Tuesday afternoon has been arrested.

Police say officers tried to pull the female driver over for possible automotive violations near Boston Common, but she refused and dragged an officer as she sped down the street.

The Honda hit several cars as it raced down Tremont Street onto Stuart Street, police say.

The driver even struck and toppled a light pole at Herald Street and Shawmut Avenue, police said.

The operator was finally stopped on Albany Street before she was taken into custody, police say. She was transported to a local hospital to be treated for her non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say she is under guard by officers at the hospital and will be booked once she is released.

The female officer dragged by the car was evaluated at the scene and did not suffer any serious injuries.

A second officer had to be taken to the hospital from that scene but the Boston Police Department.

The front of the Honda was severely damaged in the incident and the hood was almost completely shorn off.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
