Authorities identify man found dead in apparent homicide inside his Lynn home

LYNN, Mass. — Authorities on Wednesday identified a man who was found dead in an apparent homicide inside his Lynn home on Monday night.

Officers conducting a wellness check at the request of family members at a home on Stanwood Street around 6:30 p.m. found a man suffering from “apparent signs of trauma,” according to Essex District Attorney Paul F. Tucker and Lynn Police Chief Christopher Reddy.

The man, Tucker and Reddy identified as 48-year-old Ilias Mavros, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The North Shore Latino Business Association identified Mavros as the owner of Crazy Buzzy’s Roast Beef & Seafood at 364 Lynnway in Lynn.

In a Facebook post, the Association wrote, Our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Ilias Mavros family and the entire team at Crazy Buzzy’s.”

Crazy Buzzy’s had just opened its doors to the public in late October 2024, according to a previous post by the Association.

No additional details on Mavros’ death were immediately available.

Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to Tucker’s office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are assisting Lynn police with an investigation.
