KEENE, N.H. — Several people were in the hospital Saturday after Liberty Utilities had a problem with the mix of gas at their facility.
The company said the gas has higher levels of carbon monoxide and a stronger smell than normal. Crews cut off service to several customers who had higher CO levels.
Fire crews responded to nearly 105 calls about the strange smell of gas. At least four people were transported to the hospital and another two went on their, all for carbon monoxide poisoning symptoms.
Carbon monoxide exposure is a concern for customers and residents are advised to open windows or get fresh air if they notice headaches, dizziness or nausea.
Crews spent much of Saturday afternoon and night searching more than 1,200 buildings for other people who may have been impacted.
