A.J. Mastrangelo joined the Boston 25 News Team in the summer of 2026 as the weekend morning meteorologist. His passion for weather began at an early age and has taken him from forecasting in his New England childhood bedroom to reporting for the station he grew up watching. As a kid, A.J. was most fascinated by extreme weather, including the historic winter of 2015, when Boston broke its all-time seasonal snowfall record, and a microburst that brought 100 mph winds to his hometown. That fascination with the elements led to a summer 2021 internship at the Mount Washington Observatory, where he worked atop the Northeast’s tallest peak and the “Home of the World’s Worst Weather.” A.J. would then go on to earn a B.S. in Meteorology and Atmospheric Science from Pennsylvania State University in 2022, where he also produced and recorded forecasts for campus and local outlets. After college, A.J. began his broadcast career at Erie News Now in Northwestern Pennsylvania before returning to New England in 2024 as the Weekend Morning Meteorologist at NBC 10 in Providence. He spent time at both stations serving as the primary weekday morning meteorologist, giving him valuable market-climbing, high-viewership experience. During his time in Rhode Island, A.J. helped lead coverage of the historic February 2026 Blizzard that produced the largest snowfall in Providence history, reporting both from the studio and outside in the blinding snow. A.J. earned his Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) and Certified Digital Meteorologist (CDM) seals from the American Meteorological Society in early 2026. Now truly back home, A.J. couldn’t be happier to serve the people and purpose that brought him to where he is today!
